Top colleges and what it takes
BDS admission is on the NEET-UG All-India Rank. MCC fills the 15% All-India Quota at government dental colleges and 100% of seats at central institutions (BHU, Jamia, AMU); the other 85% go through state counselling, where home-state students often get in at much later ranks. Figures are the closing rank on the Open (unreserved) seat, non-PwD, computed from the official MCC round-1 allotment list for NEET-UG 2025. BDS closes far later than MBBS, so a rank that misses MBBS can still reach a top dental college. Private and deemed dental colleges (Manipal, Saveetha) fill seats through the MCC deemed round or their own process at high fees.
