What it is really like

It is 3 pm in an IISER lab. Students crowd a microscope while a professor asks what went wrong. The IISERs (Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research) and NISER run a five-year BS-MS. IISc offers a four-year BS (Research). ISI (Indian Statistical Institute) offers a three-year B.Stat or B.Math, and CMI (Chennai Mathematical Institute) a maths degree. Graduates head into a research life, not a quick job.
